Levine Act Bill &

Its Impact to Donors

About Levine Act

DONATIONS OVER $500 ARE CONSIDERED CONFLICTS OF INTEREST IN LOCAL RACES.

In 2023, California passed SB1439. This new law requires state and county officials to recuse themselves from votes on projects if they have received a contribution from a donor, or their delegates, over $500 within the last 12 months. As a result, it has made fundraising even harder for local candidates at a time when campaigns are becoming even more costly.

PACS ARE NOW THE DIFFERENCE MAKERS IN LOCAL RACES BECAUSE OF THE LEVINE ACT.

PACs, like Metro PAC, are not constrained by the Levine Act. Donors are not limited in the amount they can donate nor subject to any conflicts to support the candidates who matter to them.
